I saw Star Trek. I saw it in IMAX. Jealous? Read the review!
The reason there is not a new cartoon today is because I was lucky enough to be invited to a sneak preview of the new Star Trek movie. No. I am not going to tell you anything that would give something away. Yes, I am going to tell you its a lot of fun and an interesting departure from past Star Trek movies. Yet somehow it succeeds in staying true to the original series. The show is peppered with homages and humorous moments that Trekkies will squeal like little girls over. I am not a huge Trekkie but I know enough about the legacy of original series that I caught myself giggling at many of these moments myself. That being said, this movie was clearly not made just appease Star Trek fans. This flick will grab the attention of attention deficit plagued video gaming teens who might never have sat still long enough to see any of the Star Trek television shows. I highly recommend you see Star Trek and that you see it in IMAX. That’s how I saw it and I have to believe the space battles between giant star ships loses something on a small screen and a mediocre sound system. Trust me. Huge starships pounding the crap out of each other is a lot more impressive on a six story screen with 12,000 watts of digital surround sound. See it in IMAX!
